Introduction

Fire doors are one of the most vital elements of a building and are specified and installed as part of a building’s built-in passive fire protection system.

The specification, installation and maintenance of fire doors are determined by Building Regulations, British and European Standards, and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order:2005 (otherwise known as the FSO or RRO).

They apply to both new and existing buildings.

Fire doors are designed to save lives and protect property.
