Performance Testing

  • As previously covered, the performance of timber fire doors is assessed by subjecting them to a standard test procedure as specified in BS476 Part 22: 1987 or BS EN 1634-1: 2014
  • Tests are carried out on complete door assemblies – i.e. the fire door and door frame with all the requisite hardware (locks, latches, hinges and seals)
  • Small differences in detail, such as glazing, intumescent strips, door frames and ironmongery, may significantly affect the fire rating
